MarsDragoner The small companion story for this release sets the mood nicely and offers a sparse exposition. Especially the scribbling sounds provide a storytelling aspect as well. The mysterious journey meanders through crashing waves towards vast expansive ocean horizons with occasional horns sounding unsettling and eerie, mimicking the solitude on open waters. The effectiveness of this release relies mostly on its atmosphere rather than melodies but for that the intended ambiance is clearly discernible.

about

I remember my grandfather telling me the legend of the SS Siren Charmer, how it vanished some time ago without a trace after departing.

Sixty years later, it's returned empty.

I, along with a rescue team, boarded the ship to find nothing but a hollow vessel. Yet, signs of life were still present. Food that had been prepped for meals, none of it molded. Possessions and luggage from all of the ships passengers still present, but not a single soul, nor body, found aboard.

Perhaps the most peculiar discovery was made upon searching the Captain's cabin quarters. At his desk was his journal and a candle still lit and illuminating the space. His journal open and his the ink freshly dried.

I've been reading these logs. Strange lights, impossible sounds, the Captain seemed to have been going mad towards the end.

Ever since reading these logs, I've started having this dream that causes me to wake in a cold sweat. In this nightmare, I'm alone on the SS Siren Charmer, standing on the bow gazing out into the horizon. The sky is grey and there is nothing but open ocean in my view. I hear a voice and see lights and what I believe to be faces in the water.

The dreams always end the same. I dive into the water, towards the lights. Not of my own volition, but by the will of some unseen, extraordinary force. The dream feels more real each night. I'm afraid to close my eyes.

The final log of the journal contains coordinates. I'm going there, I have to see what's under the water.
